Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said last week that the surgery on the left shoulder of the quarterback will not affect his availability for the off-season program.
McCarthy said the non-throwing shoulder injury was an irritation to the quarterback as the season went on, but he did not think it affected his play.
In the overtime win against the New England Pats, there was a left calf strain that caused him to miss a game. He had a shoulder problem and was not on the injury report.
McCarthy said that the surgery was a cleanup and that he was already working with a number of teammates.
After a long season in which he was coming back from two surgeries on his ankle, and a latissimus strain, he passed on playing in the Pro Bowl.
In McCarthy's first season as coach, the quarterback was limited by the Cowboys placing the franchise tag on him and the ankle injury that kept him out of the offseason program.
The franchise record for touchdown passes was set last season by Prescott. He completed 410 passes for 4,449 yards.
