Russia's hacking headaches continue as we enter another day of Putin's invasion of Ukraine, and this time it's hitting the country's electric cars.
On Monday, one of Russia's busiest highways was shut down and programmed to display anti-Putin messages on its display screens, according to Jalopnik. The culprit was a Ukrainian company that built the main components.
The hack was confirmed by Russian energy company Rosseti, which maintains the chargers, and by auto enterprise, which proudly confirmed the hack in its own video.
The Ukrainian manufacturer was able to control it through the internet.
The components were remotely shut down and displayed pro-Ukrainian and anti-Putin messages. Putin is a dickhead.
EV make up an incredibly small portion of Russia's vehicles. The impact of the hack on the infrastructure is insignificant, since just 13,000 of the 45 million cars in the country are electric.
This latest instance of hacktivists hitting back at Russia is a prank that is a welcome break from the bad news coming out of the region.
Russian company outsourced the main components in EV charging systems to a Ukrainian company.
There are more on the Russian invasion.
