One of my favorite things about game developers is their fame. I was happy to see a promotional video put out by Valve showing one of the most famous game developers in the world, confusing the heck out of some members of the public.

A few recipients immediately recognize a face-masked Newell when he shows up at their doorstep with a Steam Deck in hand. In a lot of cases, the deliveries are accepted on behalf of other members of the household.

It's my favorite part of the video, but it's also the one where Newell is a little embarrassed at having signed the units. It's a very real moment from a big name in video games.

You can check out what we thought of the console in our review. The device that is currently shipping to people is buggy, unstable, and generally feels unfinished, even though it has a lot of potential. If Valve is prepared to give the Steam Deck the same level of attention and ongoing support as its most popular games, then it might just have a huge success on its hands.
