A man shot and killed his three daughters and their chaperone before taking his own life at a church in California on Monday in an incident that comes at a time when the state's lawmakers are working on legislation to allow private citizens to target gunmakers.
There is a shooting at The Church in Sacramento.
The incident took place at around 5 pm on Monday when the man was meeting up with his three children and their chaperone as part of a court-supervised visit.
The ages of the three girls killed in the incident were 9,10 and 13, but the chaperone's age was not revealed.
The man who shot the girl had a restraining order against him.
The shooting is being investigated by the sheriff's office.
Law enforcement sources told NBC News that the shooter used a semi automatic rifle.
The Governor of California,Gavin Newsom, responded to the incident by saying: "Another act of gun violence in America - this time in our backyard." There are kids in a church. Absolutely devastating. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families.

The legislation will take advantage of the wide open door that the Supreme Court opened with the Texas law. The California governor said that the top court could not uphold the gun law as it was modeled after the anti-abortion law they just upheld.
