Fiona Hill says Putin tried to tell Trump that in a conflict 'the nuclear option would be on the table' but she didn't think the former president understood the warning

Trump missed the warning that Putin would use the nuclear option if it came down to it.

The road ahead in Russia's invasion of Ukraine is dangerous, according to the former Senior Director for Europe and Russia at the United States National Security Council.

Putin ordered Russia's nuclear deterrent forces to be put on high alert, meaning they have been ordered to be prepared for an increased possibility of launch.

Hill told Reynolds that the decision was made clear that nuclear is on the table.

In one of the final meetings between Trump and Putin, Hill said that Putin tried to warn Trump about what he was saying, but he didn't know what he was saying.

She said that Putin made the point that Donald was saying, "Well, we will get them too."

Hill said there was a menace in the exchange and that Putin put us on notice that the nuclear option would be on the table if push came to shove.

She told Reynolds that having an instrument means that Putin wants to use it.

Why have it if you can not? He has already used a nuclear weapon in some respects, Hill said, referencing the use of radioactive polonium against Alexander Litvinenko in 2006 and the weapons-grade nerve agent, Novichok, against Sergei Skripal and Alexander Navalny.

If anyone thinks that Putin wouldn't use something that he has, think again. He would, every time you thought about it. Hill said that he wants us to know that.
