James Cameron high-fives fans at an Alita event.

We have got the next best thing as fans wait impatiently for the trailer for James Cameron's movie. Sort of. It is a trailer for a new book. Tech Noir is a nearly 400 page hardcover collection of art from his childhood. He can be tracked in almost a direct line, with stops along the way for The Terminator, Judgement Day, Titanic, Aliens, and, of course, Avatar.

If you don't believe us, you should watch the exclusive trailer for it.

There is a little bit of everything in this book. We tried to get concept art from his unmade Spider-Man film, but were told it was not available for publication. We got a few new pages that give you a good idea of what to expect in the book.

The first two pages show how a young James was into sketching monsters, aliens, and creatures. You can see the talent and love for popular culture immediately.

There is a lot of both in the book, called Tech Noir. For all the cool technology that he designed on his own. Our favorite? This is an early rendering of his masterpiece, Aliens.

There are many designs, creatures, technology, and worlds that never made it to the big screen as you flip through the book. What those things did was inspire and influence the very own world ofAvatar. The totality of his design work becomes much clearer when you look at it throughout his life. Finally, he has a blank canvas. Not to anything. All of his ideas can finally be brought to life at the playground where he is.
