Foreigners who want to help fight against the Russian military will not have to apply for a visa first.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on Monday that allows foreigners to stay in the country for a short time. The policy does not apply to Russians who are citizens of the aggressor state.
Tourists from the United States and the European Union used to need visas for more than 90 days.
Zelensky announced the creation of an International Legion for foreigners who want to volunteer for the armed forces of Ukraine.
According to a statement on the Ukraine president's website, anyone who wants to join the defense of Ukraine, Europe, and the world can come and fight side by side with the Ukrainians against the Russian war criminals.
An application to join the legion asks prospective volunteers to detail their military experience, and recommends that they bring their own personal protection, including a helmet and body armor.
Thousands of foreigners have fought in the country on both sides of the conflict since Russia annexed parts of Ukraine.
