The previous record was set in January when Real Salt Lake's Axel Kei signed with the team at the age of 14.

Freddy Adu had held the previous record before Kei joined the team.

Carrizo is not expected to play a role with the reigning MLS Cup champion's first team, however he could factor into the club's plans for NYCFC II, which begins play in the newly formed MLS NEXT Pro League when it begins

Carrizo became the youngest player in MLS history to sign a first team contract.

He is the second 14-year-old NYCFC has signed to a first-team contract in the last few months. Carrizo has a contract that runs through the 2027 season and includes a team option for 2028.
