The former Minnesota Vikings head coach didn't have a lot of faith in Kirk Cousins by the end of last season.

The Athletic's Chad Graff reported that some of the top lieutenants of the coach echoed the sentiment that he didn't feel the quarterback made enough winning decisions.

After finishing with an 8-9 record in his second year as a coach, he was fired. In eight seasons, the Vikings went 72-56-1.

During his four years in Minnesota, Cousins has produced impressive numbers with over 120 passing touchdown and a 103.5 passer rating.

The quarterback was an injury replacement in the Pro Bowl in 2021, and he recorded 4,221 passing yards, 33 touchdown and seven interceptions. The offense finished 14th in points.

One wild-card win was the result of the Vikings' only playoff appearance with Cousins as their starter. The Vikings reached the NFC Championship Game behind journeyman quarterback Case Keenum.

According to Spotrac, the third-highest cap hit in the NFL will be by Cousins.

Kevin O&Connell will be under pressure to get more out of the 33-year-old in order to bring the squad back into contention.

O&Connell was a quarterbacks coach for the Washington Commanders when he worked with Cousins. That could lead to a better relationship between the two sides.
