There were significant changes in the latest Associated Press college basketball poll.

The first game of the new year was lost by Gonzaga, but it was just the beginning of things to come.

The results created a lot of question marks for voters, who ended up leaving Gonzaga at the top of the rankings. The decision was not unanimous as Duke and Baylor also got first-place votes.

The big men were held to six points by Saint Mary's on Saturday, and they couldn't get anything going. The Gaels moved up to 19 in the latest poll.

It was a similar story in the Pac-12 as Colorado beat Arizona.

Despite the results, the top two remained the same.

In their conference road games, the teams were more competitive, but still couldn't pull out wins.

Tennessee handed auburn its third loss in the last six games with a 67-62 win. Smith had 27 points, eight rebound, and two blocks, but didn't get enough help to pull out the win.

The Tigers were the top ranked team in the AP poll.

The Boilermakers upset Michigan State by a score of 68-65. The Spartans shot 45 percent from three-point range, while the Boilermakers finished just 1-of-9.

One of the few Top 10 teams to survive the week without a loss was the Bears, who defeated fifth-ranked Kansas. Akinjo came through when it mattered, shooting just 2-of-10 but coming through in the 80-70 win.

It helped the Bears move up seven spots to third.

Arkansas is a team no one wants to play after a win over Kentucky on Saturday. The Razorbacks have won 13 of their last 14 games.

Arkansas is 14th in the latest ranking despite a rough stretch in the middle of the season.

Duke is the highest ranked team in this week's poll to avoid a loss.

The upsets should continue across college basketball in the coming weeks.
