If recent reports are correct, invites for the spring event could be sent out tomorrow.
Mark Gurman reported in February that Apple was planning to hold a special event on March 8. Gurman repeated the rumor of an event on March 8 in his newsletter. Apple usually sends out invitations a week before its events, which would fall on Tuesday, March 1, usually at around 9am.
Apple chose to hold its spring event in April last year, but the company has always chosen March for its spring events. There are three new Mac models, one iPad, and one iPhone that were recently filed by Apple, which suggests that the launch of new devices is imminent. The March 8 rumor is plausible because Apple hosts most of its events on Tuesdays.
The Spring event is expected to include the announcement of updated versions of the iPhone SE and the iPad Air, as well as a new Mac with Apple Silicon. The A15 chip, an improved rear camera, and 5G will likely be added to the new iPhone SE, which is rumored to look the same as the iPhone SE from 2020.
The new iPad Air is expected to feature a newer A-series chip and 5G, with no major design changes. At least one new Mac with Apple-designed chips could also be introduced at the event, and previous rumors have suggested that this is likely to be the high-end Mac mini, but a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro is also a possibility.
The March event and the launch of new devices may cause the updates to be released in the first half of March.
The March event is expected to be streamed only on Apple's website, rather than being held with an in-person audience, like the other Apple events that have taken place over the past two years. It will be followed by the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference later in the year, where new software will be introduced.
