Scoop: Truth Social verifies white nationalist Nick Fuentes

The account for Nick Fuentes, who has been labeled a white supremacist by the Justice Department, has been verified by Truth Social, Donald Trump's new social network.

The network is welcoming a figure barred by mainstream social media and shunned by some other conservative platforms, including Gettr, the app from a former Trump aide.

The white nationalist conference hosted by Nick Fuentes made headlines in recent days, as did the participation of two congressmen.

At the conference, Fuentes said, "And now they're going on about Russia and Vladimir Putin is Hitler, they say that's not a good thing." He laughed and said that he shouldn't have said that.

In the past few days, Fuentes has been sharing content that other social networks, including Gettr, have limited.

Fuentes referred to a group of far-right activists and white nationalists as Groyper. His Truth Social bio reads "Host of America First" and "Groyper Leader".

Several Republican members of Congress are also verified on Truth Social, as well as Jon Miller and Ali Alexander.

Truth Social has already shown more integrity than Gettr or Parler. A user with the handleBakedAlaska wrote that he hoped it stayed that way.
The account was permanently banned when the user tried to register it with a reference to a joke account that was supposedly run by a cow. The account was removed after a defamation lawsuit was pursued by Nunes.

The platform is trying to foster legitimacy by adding pages for mainstream sports and media networks.

The accounts of various brands are displayed by Truth Social. Sources confirm that none of those accounts were set up by the entities they claim to represent, although they are set up to look like they are.
There are labels on those accounts, which may indicate that the Truth Social accounts are reposting content from other social media sites.
A few that had publicly posted anti-Trump content were asked to reserve their spots on the network by Truth Social.

The launch of The Truth Social is supposed to mark Trump's return to social media after being suspended from most social platforms last year, but so far it's unclear how ready the app is for wide use.

The new app was launched in the app store last week, but faced a number of technical and security setbacks.
Truth Social is working with Hive to provide moderation for the app.
Hive co-founder and CEO Kevin Guo said in an interview that Truth Social's integration with Hive is several months old. Hive's technology is meant to help weed out sexually explicit content, but Truth Social has said it will prohibit.
According to Guo, Truth Social makes the ultimate decision on which accounts to ban, but noted that they have seen many examples of accounts being banned based on hate speech.

The app is likely to be popular among pro-Trump conservatives. Truth Social was the top free app on the day it was released. According to The Washington Post, there are 300,000 people on the Truth Social wait list.

So far, Trump has not appeared very active on the platform. He did not post anything other than a first post which said "Get Ready!" More than a week ago, your favorite President will see you.
