According to excerpts published Sunday in The Washington Post, former Attorney General Bill Barr categorically rejected former President Donald Trump's 2020 election claims.

In her book, Barr wrote that Trump did not win the presidential race against Biden.

The former attorney general stated that the election was not stolen.

The attorney general's memoir will detail some of the tensest moments between the two men as it relates to Trump's voting fraud claims.

According to the book, Barr met with Trump in the White House after he told the AP there was no evidence of voter fraud.

Barr's statements, which had become part of the public record, threw cold water on Trump's claims that the 2020 presidential election was illegitimate.

This is killing me. According to the book, Trump told Barr that he was pulling the rug out from under him. You would only do this if you hate Trump.

The former attorney general wrote that he sacrificed a lot personally to come in to help Trump when he thought he was being unfairly treated.

Barr, who served as attorney general under Trump from February 2019 to December 2020, called on conservatives to embrace an impressive array of younger candidates who are aligned with the former president but not crazy.

He didn't identify any favored candidates.

In the book, Barr criticizes Trump for his lack of character.

Country and principle took second place, he remarked in the book, recalling his personal revelations about Trump while navigating the last few months in his role.

He said that people are worthwhile to Trump only as utensils.

Barr served in the role from 1991 to 1993 and succeeded Jeff Sessions, who had a tumultuous tenure in the administration after recusing himself from the Russia investigation.

The book will be released on March 8.
