Some of the accounts that have been blocked by Facebook are associated with Russian state-backed media. Other governments have requests to restrict access to these accounts.

We have been in contact with the Government of Ukraine, and at their request we have restricted access to several accounts in Ukraine, including those belonging to some Russian state media organizations, according to the vice president of global affairs at Meta.

Russia partially banned Facebook after the platform refused to stop fact-checking. The Meta-owned Facebook has established a special operations center to respond to situations related to the invasion of Ukraine, and details the measures it is taking to address user safety, misinformation, and state-controlled media in a post on its blog.

The accounts that have been restricted in Ukraine and the restrictions on Russian state-backed media were not named by Facebook or the governments that asked for them. The Verge reached out to Facebook but didn't hear back.

Russian state media were blocked from advertising on Facebook. Russian state-run media have 888-492-0 888-492-0's accounts demonetized and have 888-492-0's accounts restricted in Ukranian. The European Union has taken steps towards limiting the reach of Russian state-run media as well.
