DC Mech is an upcoming mini-series that is set in a universe where Darkseid and his forces are going to invade Earth. Justice gets an upgrade, and the only way to stop the invasion is for the mightiest heroes to get their Pacific Rim on. Kenny Porter, the writer of Superman: Man of Tomorrow and Baldemar Rivas, the artist of Unearth, will bring the story to life, with Porter admitting that he wrote the story because he is a massive nerd.
Rivas immediately wanted to make sure the designs were faithful to the genre when he was approached by Porter and Dave. It was important to give each pilot elements that say something about them, and also to make them unique. The goal was to make the Mech both stealth and have an absurd array of gadgets at its disposal, just like how the hero is in the main DC universe. I want these mechs to feel at home in the DC Universe and introduce something new and exciting, but familiar.
Porter teased that there would be some interesting things in store for the series, and he said that they weren't holding anything back.
The first issue of DC Mech will be released on July 22.
