Even if he isn't going anywhere, Michael Thomas is ready to start again.

A fresh start isn't a new place, it's a mindset.

The Saints converted $14.6 million of his deal and $18.2 million of the offensive tackle's deal into signing bonuses. The moves added $26.2 million to the cap space.

If the Saints traded Thomas, they would be on the hook for all of the money on the cap this year, plus a previous signing bonus, according to Triplett.

The Ohio State product missed the 2021 season with injuries and appeared in just seven games in 2020. He was the best wide receiver before the setbacks and led the league in catches two years in a row.

Thomas had 149 catches for 1,725 yards and nine touchdown.

The three-time Pro Bowler will be under the microscope as he looks to return to that form.
