Despite what the name might suggest, this isn't a single device, but an extension of the cross-device collaboration features we have. You guessed it, the latest effort from HUAWEI allows various gadgets to be combined to form a super device.
We've been testing out Super Device on three of the latest devices from HUAWEI, the P50 Pocket, MateBook E, and Mate View 28.2, and we have come away.

The experience begins in the Control Panel app. Clicking and dragging nearby devices will form a Super Device pair. It is possible to control the phone via a window on the PC when it is connected to a wireless network.
Many of the use cases here are obvious and this is a good way to pair a touchscreen device with it. The web has many social apps that work better on a phone. Playing back media through the PC and sharing screen recordings back to the phone are some of the additional capabilities that Super Device brings.
One of the cool things about this feature is that you can use it to run multiple apps at the same time on the phone and PC. Many phone apps can be split out into separate windows, giving you the option to run multiple phone apps at the same time.

You can have video and audio from apps on the PC played on the mobile device, because input and audio are included in the connection between PC and mobile device. I was impressed with the responsiveness of the controls on the PC side when I used the P50 Pocket with the HUAWEIMATEBOOK E. There was no sign of lag, sound distortion, or video compression artefacts in the app. The only part of the experience where I ran into problems was when I scrolled through some apps and activated gestures around the edge of the screen for multitasking.
The new multi-device feature from HUAWEI enables easier file sharing between phone and PC. The drag-and-drop function in the stock Gallery and Files apps allows you to use the phone as an extension of the computer.

The company's new monitor can be used to pair with the company's phones by scanning the Near Field Communication connection area on the base of the display.
The PC Control Center app is used to pair Super Device to PCs. The wireless connection doesn't support the full 3840x2560 resolution of the MateView, unfortunately, but the connection is pretty much instant if you use a smaller convertible laptop. Plugging in via a Thunderbolt connection is still the best way to go if you are sitting at a desk using the Mateview, you will get the full benefits of the high-res 4K-plus 3:2 display.

If you are connected to a display via Super Device, input devices like keyboards and mice will be accessible to the PC, which is neat. Don't expect a completely latency-free experience if you plug in your peripherals this way.

The basic functions are supported by the MatePad tablets. Similar to Sidecar on a Mac and iPad, Super Device lets you turn your nearby device into an extension or mirror of your laptop. This feature allows you to use the tablet as a secondary display or drawing slate for a PC that doesn't have pen function.
It is not possible to add a phone and a monitor to Super Device at the same time. If you want to use your phone to connect to a secondary display, you will need to remove your phone from your pocket.

It's no secret that there are challenges for the company in its phone business, as it's cut off from 5G technology. Super Device shows the strengths of its ecosystems in a variety of product categories, including those only indirectly related to the operating system.
The P50 Pocket and P50 Pro are two of the company's latest devices that are supported by the Super Device. You will need the highest version of the PC Manager app to take advantage of all the features.
