John Mulaney playing a monkey judge on 'SNL' is comedy we desperately need

Sometimes we need comedy that makes us laugh and cry, jokes that are emotional and also tickles the funny bone. Sometimes we want to see John Mulaney wearing makeup.

The sketch on Saturday Night Live is over the top. It was a big time. Mulaney introduces the world to Judge Tango, a monkey who became a judge. It is a five-minute sketch that feels like the kind of humor that would emerge from the brain of the Sack Lunch Bunch mastermind.

Mulaney plays his game straight. As he sits down and introduces himself to the courtroom, he solemnly notes, "no one look me in the eye, do not make any noises that I do not know."

There are five minutes of this. Five. Minutes. The monkey judge is a gift from John Mulaney.
