Satellite imagery shows a large deployment of ground forces and aircraft in southern Belarus, which is less than 100 miles from the Ukrainian border and the capital of the besieged nation.

Maxar Technologies shared images of nearly 150 ground attack and transport helicopters.

Maxar's images show a large helicopter grouping near the town of Chojniki, with more than 90 of them parked on a road for more than five miles.

Maxar senior director Stephen A. Wood said in an email that a large deployment of ground forces with several hundred vehicles is seen in convoy position in several fields.

A group of more than 50 helicopters, along with support troops and equipment, was spotted roughly 40 miles away at the V.D. Bokov airfield.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russian President Vladimir Putin is in its third night. There was gunfire on a bridge across the Dneiper River dividing the eastern and western parts of the city as his forces drew closer to Kyiv.

The Russian offensive has been striking out against the eastern part of the country.

According to the U.S. and U.K. governments, the Russian push on Kyiv has lost some of its steam.

Zelensky said in one video address that he and his family were the number two target.

Zelenskyy and his cabinet have urged the West to send more arms to Ukraine, including anti-tank and anti-aircraft weaponry.

The senior U.S. defense official said that Ukrainian air defenses are still operating.
