Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp
Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp are both hoping to win the Carabao Cup for the first time

The first domestic trophy of the 21st century will be decided in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday at Wembley.

Neither Thomas Tuchel nor Juergen Klopp have won a cup in English football.

The last time a team won the competition was 10 years ago, whenLiverpool got their hands on the prize.

The trophy will have a different name this year.

Manchester City have won the competition for the past four years, but were knocked out this season in the fourth round by West Ham.

After closing the gap on leaders City to three points and progressing to the knockout stages of the FA Cup, this is the first of four potential trophies that the Reds could win this season.

It is the second time for me in this competition and I have lost many finals in my life, but the few I won did not stop me from trying again.

Each round we made, it was always really, really nice.

If we can win it, it will be a proper trophy for the whole club because we used players from the under-18s, under-23s and it makes a really nice journey and a really nice story and I hope we can bring it back and celebrate it with the academy.

If you want to talk about this team in 20 years, I would not be surprised if people say they should have won more.

We should try to win a few things. The best chance we have this weekend is against Chelsea.

The European Super Cup and Club World Cup were won by Chelsea, and they could complete a hat-trick of titles this season.

A tale of two goalkeepers

Alisson Becker is expected to be replaced by back-up goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher for the final.

In the competition this season, the Republic of Ireland international has played in all but one game and kept a clean sheet.

It shows that there is an inside path for young goalkeepers at the club.

That is a compliment for the goalkeeper department. It is possible a young keeper can make the final.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has been playing in every round so far for the Blues, instead of Mendy.

Tuchel wouldn't confirm if the Spaniard will start the final at Wembley.

The German said that Kepa deserves to play and that he cannot get sentimental about it.

I know that this position is very sensitive. If Kepa were a player in the other 10 positions, we wouldn't have these discussions, we would just be full of praise and he would feel that praise in minutes on the pitch.

Will Reds end 10-year wait for domestic cup?

It is surprising to learn that they have not won a domestic cup since 2012 and that the Carabao Cup has not been high on their agenda in the past decade.

Kenny Dalglish was the manager of the Reds when they won the League Cup at Wembley.

After Joe Mason had opened the scoring for the Bluebirds, Martin Skrtel and Ben Turner had equalized, and Dirk Kuyt had scored in extra time to take the final to a spot-kick shootout.

Steven Gerrard and Charlie Adam both missed penalties but, with Cardiff failing with three of their own,Liverpool claimed success after Kuyt, man-of-the-match Stewart Downing and Glen Johnson all converted.

The Reds lost to Manchester City on penalties in the League Cup in 2016 and were beaten in the FA Cup final later that year.

They have been busy winning other awards.

The Reds won the Uefa Super Cup and the Fifa Club World Cup, as well as the first English title in 2020.

Can this be Lukaku's moment?

The Football News Show: What's going wrong for Lukaku at Chelsea?

It is not the time to laugh at out-of-form forward Romelu Lukaku, who was left on the bench during the 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

The suggestion was that the German wanted to take the Belgian forward out of the game rather than rest him.

In the semi-final win over Spurs, he played 90 minutes but did not score or assist.

He scored in both of the Club World Cup games and in the FA Cup third-round win over Chesterfield, taking his tally to 10 goals in 28 games.

In his last game under Tuchel, he only made seven touches in 90 minutes during a win against Crystal Palace, which became known as the "seven touches in 90 minutes" game.

He played a lot of matches and we had a similar situation with Jorginho. I understand that the focus is on Romelu, but it is a similar situation to Jorginho.

The players accept the decisions that are made. There are no hard feelings from Romelu or me because you accept the team goes first.

'I was dreaming of doing this at school'

Trent Alexander-Arnold was 13 when the last time the Reds won a domestic cup and he used to dream of winning silverware at Wembley.

He said that it will be an exciting game for the whole club. We have to go there and try to win it.

We have performed well, we have had different teams, young players, senior players that have mixed and matched this season, but I think on Sunday it will be a strong squad to go out there.

We have won our own trophies as a team, but we still want to win the domestic cup competition and write another chapter in our history.

Alexander-Arnold doesn't see why the team can't win all four trophies.

He said that the emphasis is on all four competitions and that they don't see any reason why they can't win all of them.

I wanted to do this in 2012 at school. I never thought I would be in this position, but I have been very lucky so far. I have been blessed with the path I have been given.

I always feel there is a buzz around this time of the year. I like the big games that you need to win. The ones that will win or lose the trophy. These are the games we want to play.

Pick your cup final teams

Pick your starting line-up. You can either go for the team you want the boss to pick or the one you think he will choose.
