According to a video verified by CNN, Ukrainian citizens in the city of Bakhmach stood in front of Russian tanks on Saturday.

According to CNN, tanks can be seen in the video driving on the roads in the northeastern part of the country.

A man climbs onto a Russian tank as it drives down a city street. A man kneels in front of a tank after it stops and then stands up and leaves the way.

According to CNN's translation, a voice can be heard saying, "They are throwing their bicycles underneath the Russian tanks," though no one can be seen doing so on the video. A person can be seen climbing back onto the tank as the video ends.

The Ukrainian government has encouraged citizens to assemble Molotov cocktails and handed out assault rifles to civilians. According to CNN, the Russian Defense Ministry condemned these actions, arguing that they will inevitably lead to accidents and casualties.

USA Today reported Saturday that the U.S. Defense Department believes that 50 percent of the 200,000 troops that Russia massed on the Ukrainian border in the months leading up to the invasion are now fighting inside the country.

According to USA Today, the main Russian force is still 18 miles away from the capital city, despite the fact that Russian forces have entered and engaged in street battles with Ukrainian troops.

The capital and northeastern city of Kharkiv have seen some of the heaviest fighting of the war so far, according to CNBC.
