Roman Abramovich handed over the stewardship and care of the club to the charity trustees on Saturday.

The move came after a member of the British parliament called for the Russian billionaire to hand over the club.

The war was not mentioned in the statement by the owner of the company.

During my nearly 20-year ownership of the club, I have always viewed my role as a custodian of the club, whose job is ensuring that we are as successful as we can be today, as well as build for the future, while also playing a positive role in our communities.

I have always taken the best interests of the club into account. I am committed to these values. I am giving the trustees of the Foundation stewardship and care of the club.

I believe that they are in the best position to look after the interests of the club, players, staff, and fans.

The conflict in Ukraine entered a third day on Saturday after Russia invaded its neighbour country.

In addition to the five premier league titles, they have also won the 2012 and 2021. The club has won five FA Cup titles.
