According to a report, Miami head football coach Mario Cristobal has been talking with Pro Football Hall of Fame player and current football coach.
The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson gave credit to CaneSport.com for first mentioning the possibility. Herald said that a consultant or analyst role is one of the options.
Taylor played for the Miami Dolphins from 1997 to 2007. He finished his career with 139.5 sacks and 774 tackles. He won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award in 2007, after he was named the 2006 National Football League Defensive Player of the Year. The six-time Pro Bowler made the first team on three occasions.
In his first year leading the Hurricanes, a player from 1988 to 1992 and a member of the coaching staff from 1998 to 2000 and 2004 to 2006 is leading the program. He comes from Oregon, where he was the head coach of the Ducks.
His best year was when Oregon won the Rose Bowl and finished fifth in the Associated Press poll.
He will look to lead the Hurricanes to better days. Adding a former football star like Taylor would appear to be a huge win for the Hurricanes as they prepare for their debut against Bethune-Cookman.
