The visibility of public safety information will be ensured by a temporary hold on advertisements.

We’re temporarily pausing advertisements in Ukraine and Russia to ensure critical public safety information is elevated and ads don’t detract from it.

We are temporarily pausing advertisements in Russia and Ukraine to make sure critical public safety information is elevated. The platform outlines several measures to protect users. This includes a suspension on some of the services, as well as search and home timelines that direct users to a Twitter Moment that includes digital security information.

The social network is taking enforcement action against them, and is actively reviewing their accounts to detect platform manipulation. The accounts of journalists, government officials, activists, and other high-profile accounts are being monitored to prevent takeover or manipulation.

It is possible that Russia is trying to stifle information related to the conflict in Ukraine. The country restricted access to the platform, which prevented Russian state-run media from advertising on it.

The focus of the company remains to protect the safety and integrity of the conversation on the platform. We will keep a close eye on the situation.
