The Security Service of Ukraine wrote in a Telegram post that gas masks were being given to Russian troops in eastern Ukraine. The agency feared that Russian forces could blow up chemical tanks in the region and accuse the Ukrainian military of sabotage.

According to a World Bank assessment, the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine has about 900 large industrial plants. If Russian shelling hit industrial sites storing hazardous chemicals, the United Nations and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe warned.

According to a World Bank report, the conflict in the region caused dozens of mines to be damaged, leading to water, soil and land pollution. Power plants, chemical production sites, water supply infrastructure and sewage systems have been attacked.

Hungary, Italy and Cyprus, Zelenskyy and Ukraine are some of the European countries that are in favor of cutting Russia off from the international payments system. It is reported that this could happen within days.

Thousands of banks worldwide rely on the Belgium-based payments system, which makes international payments much easier. Russia's economy and financial activity are at risk if it is cut off from the system. It would hit countries that purchase key resources from the country.

Major U.S. banks have warned the U.S. government not to take that step because it could encourage the development of an alternative to the SWIFT system.

The curfew in the city was extended to between 5 and 8 a.m. after Ukrainian security forces repelled a series of attacks.

During those hours, anyone spotted on the streets will be considered a member of sabotage and will be subject to a curfew.

The move came after a night of fighting in the streets of the city, with gunfire and blasts heard in the center of the city. The Ukrainian military said it destroyed a column of Russian vehicles.

A large apartment building was damaged by a missile strike. Forbes Ukraine reported that the extent of injuries was unclear.

According to Forbes Ukraine, the city's residents were asked to be on the lookout for saboteurs who placed marks around the city for points to attack.

The Associated Press reported that the Ukrainian military shot down a Russian plane 50 miles south of the city in fighting with Russian forces.
