In a video posted on his website, Zelensky said that he is still in the capital of the country and urged residents to resist the Russians.

The Telegram account purported to be from Zelensky posted videos of Ukrainian government officials, as well as messages from the ministry of defense. Zelensky does not usually use a language other than Russian when addressing Ukrainians. We are laying down! Tell everyone! It is a difficult decision. The President made the announcement after officials in the city told residents to stay away from windows and take shelter indoors.
Russian troops were heading toward the city and there were loud explosions throughout the night.
The AP reported that Zelensky declined an offer from the US to be evacuated.
Zelensky said that the fight was here and that he needed a ride.
