Davis talked about her friendship with Sorokin in a new interview.

It is almost like a seesaw. I have to set boundaries. Sometimes I won't answer the phone because I had to let her know I have my freedom.

I won't be able to answer every phone call from jail. If you need some panties or coconut milk for Thanksgiving, I will send it.

She had to set boundaries with Sorokin during his trial, since the fake heiress, born in Russia, started losing her mind a little bit.

The communication style of Davis and Sorokin has changed since Davis lives in Los Angeles and Sorokin in New York.

We speak as much as we can, which is once a month. I spoke to her yesterday and I will pick up if I am bored.

The new Shonda Rhimes show "Inventing Anna" features both Davis and Sorokin. Julia Garner portrays Sorokin, whileAlexis Floyd plays Davis.

The show features Rachel Williams, a former friend of Sorokin. The real-life Williams, who worked at Vanity Fair, recently condemned "Inventing Anna" forglorifying a criminal. Sorokin accused Williams of exploiting their former friendship in a lengthy statement.

After articles were published by New York Magazine, Vanity Fair, and the New York Post about her attempts to con financial institutions out of money by pretending to be a wealthy German heiress, Sorokin rose to fame.

The jury acquitted Sorokin of the prosecutors charge that she stole from Williams, but convicted her of other charges.

The so-called "SoHo scam" was released from a New York jail in February 2021. Immigration issues have led to Sorokin being in ICE custody. She wrote an essay for Insider about her experience behind bars and her thoughts on the show.

Inventing Anna is available to watch on the internet.
