Joy Behar has come under fire after she expressed concerns on the daytime talk show that her plans to travel to Italy would be affected by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

During Thursday's show, Behar said she was scared about what would happen to western Europe.

You plan a trip. You would like to go there. I want to go to Italy for four years, but I haven't been able to because of the coronaviruses.

And now this, she added. It's like, what's going to happen there?

Behar made the comments after Hostin mentioned that 50,000 Ukrainians will be dead or wounded and that this is going to start a refugee crisis in Europe.

Hostin said that 5 million people are going to be displaced.

Putin authorized a full-scale attack on Ukraine. Many hundreds of miles from the previous conflict zone, the cities of Ukraine were bombarded by explosions in the hours that followed. Dozens of casualties were reported in the fighting on its borders with Russia.

The new wave of hostilities expanded the clash from a limited incursion over disputed land into the most serious armed conflict in Europe for at least a decade.

Insider is covering the developments of the invasion on their live blog.

The View co-hosts were joined by ABC News chief global affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz, who was live from Ukraine. Behar said that she was "disgusted" by some on the right who seemed to embrace Putin over America's own interests.

Many leading conservative figures have been praising Russian President Vladimir Putin as he threatens Ukraine with war, as Insider's senior politics reporter John Haltiwanger wrote on Wednesday.

Behar faced backlash on social media for her fears over her Italy trip.

We are so sorry that you can not vacation in Italy this year. You are ignorant and selfish like the rest of the View.

God grant me the absolute confidence and egocentricity of Joy Behar complaining that a war ruined her vacation plans while the bombs are still dropping.

More than 100,000 likes and retweets were racked up by several other accounts that criticized Behar.

A spokesman for The View didn't respond to Insider's request for comment on Friday.
