It was "inappropriate" for President Joe Biden to announce a Supreme Court nomination in the midst of Russia's invasion of Ukraine said Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.

The first black woman to serve on the DC Court of Appeals was nominated by Biden.

Biden is putting the demands of the radical progressive left ahead of what is best for the country.

Biden used the announcement as a way to distract from the crisis and criticized him for having instituted a sanctions waiver on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which Senate Republicans and even some Democrats have opposed.

She said that it was an attempt to hide that Biden refused to impose sanctions against Russia or send military assistance to Ukraine.

Biden set a deadline to announce his Supreme Court nominee by the end of February. He stuck to his original timetable for a quick confirmation process by declaring his nominee on Friday.

She plans to meet with her in person to determine if she is a person of high character, after saying that she cannot hold President Biden's failure to lead our nation against his nominee.

She said that we must not blindly confirm a justice to serve as a rubber stamp for a radical progressive agenda.

The Judiciary Committee and the Armed Services Committee are both chaired by Blackburn. Her remarks were echoed by the Senate Judiciary Republicans.

Other Republicans have been less critical of Biden's nominee. Senate Minority LeaderMitch McConnell said he wanted the Senate to conduct a rigorous, exhaustive review of Judge Jackson's nomination, while dinging her for having published two opinions in the last few weeks.

Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who has offered praise for Biden's pledge to nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court, declared on Friday that the radical Left has won over President Biden because he did not pick Graham's preferred nominee.
