According to reports, the email systems and developer tools have been down for the last two days due to a suspected cyberattack. The company told The Telegraph that it was investigating an incident and didn't have anything else to say.
One person with knowledge of the situation said that the company was dealing with a malicious network intrusion that had completely compromised their internal systems. The email services were back online on Friday. If this is a cyberattack, it is not clear whether the data obtained by the hackers is related to its customers.
There is currently no evidence tying the incident to Russia, due to concerns that it would retaliate against the West with cyberwarfare. The US and other nations imposed sanctions on Russia after it invaded Ukraine.
Alejandro Mayorkas, secretary of homeland security, said this week that the US has no information to suggest a specific cyber threat against the homeland.
