The best wide receiver in Indianapolis Colts history could return to the organization as a coach.

According to The Athletic, the Colts are considering hiring Wayne as their wide receiver coach.

When the Colts announced changes to their coaching staff, Wayne jokingly asked if they were hiring.

Y'all hiring. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

When Reich was in his first season with the team, Wayne served as a volunteer wide receiver coach.

The Colts selected Wayne with the 30th pick of the 2001 draft.

After spending his first two seasons as the third option, Wayne came into his own in 2003 with 838 yards and seven touchdown in 16 starts.

From 2004 to 2010, Wayne had at least 1,000 receiving yards in seven consecutive seasons, including a league-leading 1,510 yards in 2007. He made the Pro Bowl six times in seven seasons from 2006 to 2012 and was on the All-Pro team three times.

The Colts didn't re-sign Wayne after his contract expired. He signed a one-year deal with New England in August but requested his release before the season started.

After not playing in 2015, Wayne decided to retire from football. He and Marvin Harrison are the only two players in Colts history with at least 1,000 career reception and receiving yards.
