Boris Johnson spoke of protecting ourselves without losing our liberties. This is ridiculous. If you are Covid positive and don't self-isolate, then the risk is all on me. You will be increasing the likelihood that I will lose my liberties and reducing the likelihood that I will be able to protect myself.

I care about other people's health. If I caught Covid, I wouldn't risk the health of others by continuing as I was doing, and I wouldn't risk infecting others, who would have every right to be angry with me.

The prevalence of covid infections is still high. Johnson speaks as if he has decided that the epidemic is over. His government's record shows that he is far from an expert. He doesn't have a clue as to the direction of the disease. I am shocked by the rhetoric and lack of logic. Dr Michael Sheard is from Northallerton.

The daily case numbers have fallen to about a fifth of the record peak at the start of 2022. Government reported case numbers are dependent on the availability of tests and the willingness of people to take them. The Office for National Statistics has better measures. The government figures for hospitalisations and deaths are reliable and point in the right direction. David Davies is from Salisbury.

Boris Johnson wants people to take responsibility for their Covid-preventive behavior. We may ask how far he wants to go if we put to one side the concern for those who don't have the means.

Will he repeal the laws that tell us to wear safety belts, drive on the left and stop at red lights? Is there restrictions on firearm ownership, animal mistreatment and health and safety also to be abandoned? Public safety and animal welfare are both at issue with those suggestions.
