The Financial Times and New York Times reported Friday that the European Union is planning to freeze the assets of Russia's President and Foreign Minister.

The sanctions package is expected to be approved by the EU's foreign ministers later in the day, according to three people familiar with the matter.
The sources said the package wouldn't include a travel ban.
The bloc is planning to take action against Russian banks.
