Users can pay to temporarily remove advertisements on the new ad-free subscription service. Anyone who misses the late 2000s will be able to buy a piece of that ad-free period back.
In a post on Thursday, the platform announced a new feature. Users can either subscribe for $4.99 per month to get rid of ads, or they can pay a yearly fee of $39.99.
As of today, you can set up ad-free browsing on your personal desktop computer, from anywhere in the world, and then enjoy the same lively and entertaining Tumblr you know and love without the interruption of ads.
You don't have to subscribe at all, and can just use the ad-filled incarnation for free. I have never been annoyed enough by the ads to shell out $40 to stop them.
If you want to avoid seeing the same Amazon ad every three posts, go to your account settings and click on "Go Ad-Free."

The platform was introduced to it in 2012 after it refused to host ads at its launch in 2007. The advertising program on the website grew significantly after it was acquired by Yahoo, with ads being placed on every singletumblr.com in 2016 Users frequently sharedScreenshots of particularly bizarre ones and requested the ability to re-post them, which became a meme.
A subscription won't guarantee you won't see any ads at all. You will only see the ones that others think are good.
