Rangers celebrate v Dortmund
Where does Rangers' scalp over Borussia Dortmund rank in their best ever European results?

Rangers should not fear anyone after they were eliminated from the Europa League, says James McFadden.

What will happen to Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his men after their amazing win over the Germans? Where does the victory compare to other European classics?

Here, the Scottish Broadcasting Corporation tries to rank Thursday's achievement alongside other memorable Rangers results and looks at what awaits the Scottish champion in Friday's last-16 draw.

How does this compare?

How does the monumental nature of the Rangers win over Dortmund compare to other European nights? The Barcelona Bears were born in May 1972.

Rangers won their only piece of European silverware when they played out a thrilling 3-2 Cup Winners' Cup final against Dynamo Moscow in the Nou Camp.

Fans rushed on to the pitch to catch a glimpse of their heroes and Rangers captain John Greig had to give the trophy to them in the changing room.

The European nights of the 1990s will be remembered by Rangers the most, notably the double European nights against Leeds United in 1992.

In Govan and Elland Road, Ally McCoist was the hero, scoring the winning goals.

Is there a more recent nostalgia hit? Walter Smith's side won the Uefa Cup in 2008 after a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Fiorentina, as well as Rangers' stunning win in the European Championship in 2007.

Smith's team showed immense character to reach the Ibrox side's first European final in more than two decades, with the winner of the penalty shoot out setting up a showpiece final with Zenit St Petersburg in Manchester.

The class of 22 deserve to be right up there because of the gulf in resources between the clubs.

Who awaits in the last 16?

There are still some daunting sides left in the draw, even without the presence of Dortmund. Rangers will take anyone on after dumping out the competition's favorites.

The eight group winners with whom Lyon could be grouped are: Rangers, Lyon, and others.

The classy outfit dispatched the Glasgow side 2-0 at Ibrox in September, before a draw away from home in December, so it would be a tough test for the French side.

The German side is currently eight points behind the leaders after being knocked out by the Scottish side.

Is anyone interested in an all-British tie? West Ham United could be an opponent. The club, who are just four points off a place in the top flight, have been drilled by David Moyes.

The new format of the competition means that Rangers will not have to face Barcelona, Porto, and Atalanta, who are all unseeded after their play-off wins. Maybe a blessing is a disguise.

'Incredible Rangers shouldn't fear anyone' - analysis

Richard Foster is a former Rangers defender.

It was a great performance. In the second half, Rangers found their gear. They wanted to win the tie. Calvin Bassey scored the second goal and proved himself in the match.

The game was a great advertisement for Scottish football. You are led to believe that the standard is bad. Allan McGregor didn't make a save in the second half.

James McFadden was a player for Scotland.

Incredible. The second half from Rangers was amazing. They should have won the second leg. The way they managed the game was excellent.

Rangers should not fear anyone. There are many fearsome sides in this competition, but only one that is as fearsome as Borussia Dortmund.
