The Russian civil aviation regulator said that British airlines were banned from landing at Russia's airports.

The UK banned Russia's national airline Aeroflot from landing in the country.

The UK imposed a ban on imports from Russia in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

Russia launched a military invasion of the country on Thursday.

UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace thinks that Aeroflot was retaliated against by banning them from using and landing in the United Kingdom. That is their response to tat.

A restriction was introduced on the use of Russian airspace for flights of aircrafts owned, leased or operated by an organization linked to or registered in the UK, according to Russia's aviation authority.

IAG, the airline group which owns British Airways, had previously said it was avoiding Russia's airspace.

British Airways runs three flights a week between London and Moscow.
