The airspace over Ukraine is closed to commercial air traffic due to the invasion of armed forces from Russia, which occurred earlier this morning, Thursday, February 24, 2022, and airlines scrambled to adapt and alter any routes which flew over the country.

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) informs about the extension of the suspension of all charter and scheduled flights to / from the territory of Ukraine, scheduled for February 25, 2022, in order to minimize any risks to passenger safety. As previously reported, the decision will be made on February 24 in connection with the closure of Ukrainian airspace for civilian airspace users.
UIA emphasizes that it maintains and will maintain liaison with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and other authorized state authorities.
Accordingly, IMPORTANT TO KNOW – all UIA passengers and citizens of Ukraine who found themselves abroad and must return to Ukraine must register on the state website of the State Registration of Ukrainian Citizens https://friend.mfa.gov.ua/#/. Registered citizens will be provided with information about flights to these points and to points of arrival in Ukraine.
All current information on the further status of flights will be posted on the official UIA website (www.flyuia.com) and other official communication channels. Passengers of canceled flights will be informed by e-mail or phone, which are specified in the reservation. Passengers are asked to check the availability of relevant contact information at Ukraine International Airlines – e-mail, individual mobile phone number.

The Bureau of Consular Affairs of the Department of State of the United States issued an official notice about the crisis in Ukraine, which included recommended areas of land border crossing to neighboring countries.
The Federal Aviation Administration of the United States has issued an official notice prohibiting all commercial operators and air carriers based in the United States from flying over Odesa, Dnipro, Simferopol, and Lviv.
