Pekka Rinne wants to bring his son Paulus to Nashville in a few years and share his stories from his playing days.

The highlight? He pointed to his number hanging in the rafters.

Rinne said Thursday night that it gave him goosebumps to think about it.

The goalie who led the Nashville Preds to the Stanley Cup Final in his first season added to his list of accomplishments. He was the first player to have his jersey retired by the organization.

Rinne said that this memory would stay with him the rest of his life.

A statue of Rinne will be unveiled outside of the arena during the 2022-23 season.

The mascot head that the team skates through when it enters the ice is oversized and Rinne emerged from it. He walked past the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl with his Vezina and King Clancy trophies on one blue line.

Kimmo Timonen and David Poile were among the guests. He thanked the only GM he had and mentioned that he had only three coaches.

On and off the ice, Poile said Rinne made everything he touched better.

He was someone you could look up to, Poile said.

Minutes after the ceremony ended, the current Preds came out wearing sweaters with the name and number on the back for warm-ups.

Not bad for someone who wanted to play for the national team. In the 2004 NHL draft, Rinne was selected by Nashville with the 258th pick.

After that, I started setting goals and dreams and started dreaming about the NHL more. I was not the most talented player early on. A lot of good things happen after that.

In May, Rinne ended his career with a win in the regular-season finale for Nashville.

He tied Tom Barrasso for 19th in NHL history with his . It was his 60th career shut out.

After the final shut out, center Ryan Johansen pushed Rinne out for a lap around the ice. He said he is a fan of Rinne as well.

He might be one of the most respected guys to ever play the game and his jersey will be retired.

Nashville announced plans to retire Rinne's jersey in November.

The goat at the Nashville Zoo was named after Rinne. The Nashville Preds will host the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay in a game on Saturday at the Nissan Stadium.

Nashville has hosted its first outdoor game. He thinks this week will bring a lot of exposure to the franchise and city. The NHL All-Star Weekend was hosted by Nashville.

Rinne said he wasn't thinking about playing an outdoor game or having things like this happening in Nashville.

The franchise is still in Nashville after signing a seven-year extension with Rinne. The Vezina Trophy winner as the league's best goaltender, Rinne was 369-213-75 in his career. Juuse Saros said that it was special to live with the goalie he lived with when he first arrived in Nashville. It is awesome.

The career goals-against average of Rinne is tied for fourth-best among goalies with at least 350 wins in the NHL. He is one of 12 goalies with at least 350 wins.

One of seven goalies to reach that mark, Rinne had three 40-win seasons, tied for second most in NHL history. Nashville won a playoff series for the first time and he was fourth in Hart Trophy voting.
