The University of Connecticut women's basketball team announced on Thursday that reigning national player of the year, Paige Bueckers, has been cleared to return from knee surgery and will suit up for the first time since early December.

The sophomore guard had surgery in December to repair injuries. She was hurt in the final minute of the Notre Dame game.

Bueckers was not available to play in the game. Geno Auriemma said she had an appointment with Dr. Robert Arciero, the chief of the sports medicine division.

"Then, we will see what happens," Auriemma said.

The Huskies have played all but six games this season without Bueckers. Before the injury, she was averaging 21.2 points, 6.2 assists, 5.5 rebound and 2.7 steals.
