Bieniemy will return to the Kansas City Chiefs as their offensive coordinator in the year 2022, according to a source.

He will be returning on a one-year contract, as reported by the NFL Network.

After last season, Bieniemy's contract expired, and he met with the head coach to discuss his future with the team. Bieniemy worked on an expired contract in 2020.

He contemplated coaching in college, listening to other offers, or even taking off after a physically and mentally draining season in which the Chiefs fell one game short of the Super Bowl and Bieniemy was again bypassed in the head-coaching hiring cycle.

The New York Giants have a new offensive coach, and the Kansas City Chiefs still have to find a new quarterbacks coach.

Bieniemy has been on the Kansas City staff for four years and has been the offensive coach. The four-year stretch as Kansas City's starting quarterback, and the Chiefs' offense has ranked no worse than sixth in the NFL each season under Bieniemy, coincides with his tenure as the team's OC.

Bieniemy has been a candidate for multiple head-coaching jobs in recent seasons and had interviewed for the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints positions this year.

Bieniemy, who was an assistant coach for the Broncos, Giants and Dolphins, was unable to land a head-coaching job despite his success despite the fact that he was black.
