Some celebrities are speaking out against Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's request that the Department of Family and Protective Services investigate the parents of children who receive gender-affirming care.

According to Texas law, gender-affirming care is considered child abuse. Several forms of gender-affirming care, including puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy or gender affirmation surgeries, were referred to by Abbott and Paxton. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, no court in Texas or the US has considered gender-affirming care to be child abuse. The Biden Administration criticized the opinion.
