On the day of the recall, the FDA issued a statement saying that the investigation was prompted by a consumer complaint. The inspectors reported live rodents, dead rodents in various states of decay, as well as dead birds and bird droppings. Purchases made in January and February include human food, pet food, dietary supplements, cosmetics, medical devices, and over-the-counter medications.
