Closed Airspace

Users should avoid an area of at least 100NM within the borders of Belarus and the Russian Federation after the air traffic services were suspended in the country. The airspace which was being used for overflights had already been emptied.

A LOT Polish Airlines flight from Warsaw to Kyiv turned back to Warsaw after the closure of Ukraine Airspace. An El Al flight from Tel Aviv to Toronto made a sudden U-turn out of Ukraine’s airspace around the time of its closure.

Military Attacks on Airports

Russian missile and bomb strikes have hit airports in multiple cities, including the capital of Ukraine, according to the General Staff.
