The Batman does not have an origin story, which was stipulated by design in order for Matt Reeves to sign onto the film. In his sophomore year of crime fighting and encounters with figures that will begin to fill out his gallery, Robert Pattinson's masked superhero is centered.
Warner Bros courted him while he thought he was the wrong person for the job, according to an interview with Uproxx. I thought it would be enough to do Batman in his world. I said from the beginning that I didn't have to do anything to connect it to other things.
Ben Affleck was still doing the movie at that point, and there was an iteration of it. I can see why they wanted to do it, but it connects to the broader world. It was like a James Bond kind of thing, MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE MzE

WB continued its pursuit of a Chinatown take on Batman in Gotham after seeing the success of The Suicide Squad and The Joker. I wanted to make this movie. Whatever people think of the movie, flaws and all, it's not because there were edicts thrown down. I wanted to have Batman have a way to go so that he can have an awakening.
The Batman arrives March 4 and was approved by the WB in the end.
