Russia and the West are at odds as Russian president Vladimir Putin mobilizes his troops on the border of Ukraine. The ability to launch state-sponsored cyberattacks has been built up by Russia, Ukraine and the Western allies. Are we about to have the world's biggest cyberwar?

Western authorities are afraid of cyberattacks. The UK's National Cyber Security Centre warned organizations to improve their cyber defences on February 22, but declined to elaborate.

There are warnings in the US. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency warned companies that provide services to the US armed forces to be on the lookout for more attempts to break into their IT systems. A memo from the US Department of Homeland Security warned that Russia has a range of offensive cyber tools that it could use against the US.
