Troy Aikman will continue to work some of the biggest games of the season. It might not be with Fox Sports.

The New York Post's Andrew Marchand reported that Aikman is in talks with the network about moving to Monday Night Football. Marchand said that his contract is expected to be comparable to or exceed Tony Romo's 10-year, $180 million deal with CBS Sports.

It is a good time to work in football broadcasting. His career earnings in the NFL will be more than his CBS contract will be.

The major players were vying to get one up on the competition, and the arrival of Amazon Prime Video has accelerated the arms race.

Michael McCarthy reported in November that Amazon was interested in both Aikman and Michaels, the play-by-play man for Sunday Night Football.

Aikman acknowledged that he might be interested in signing on for Amazon's Thursday Night Football coverage.

The Hall of Famer said he was considering working with both Fox and Amazon at the same time. Fox was the home of Thursday Night Football from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

It is thought that aligning with Disney would take Amazon off the table.

Another big move to come could be a result of the Worldwide Leader in Sports signing Aikman away from Fox. In January, Marchand reported that the current Monday Night Football booth of Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Louis Riddick Jr. was not satisfactory and that the network was considering signing Michaels for play-by-play duties.

If Aikman and Michaels were to choose MNF, Fox would need to find a new lead analyst and Amazon would need to put together a two-man crew.
