John Demsey, an executive group president at Estee Lauder, was suspended due to a recent post that included a racial slur.
The social media post that was removed from Demsey's personal account contained jokes about Covid-19 and a spoof book cover of the TV show Sesame Street.
According to an internal memo obtained by the Journal, the content posted does not represent the values of the company.
When CNBC reached out, Estee Lauder and John Demsey were not available.
The executive at Estee Lauder has been there for 30 years. The report said Demsey was suspended without pay. The paper didn't know how long the suspension was.
Estee Lauder shares were down 1.61% on Wednesday.
