On Tuesday, Hollywood Unlocked, a celebrity gossip site with 2.8 million followers led by a former reality TV star, posted exclusive news from sources close to the Royal Kingdom.
The news was not confirmed by any other sites and the palace did not take any action to show it was true.
The palace has a detailed procedure for notifying the public when the Queen dies, known as "operation london bridge", a key part of which is that the palace will release an official notification of her death.
Hollywood Unlocked reported that the queen had died in a second post on Tuesday.
Lee stood by the report as reporters called out the site for spreading a false rumor.
The story about the queen's death, which was originally reported by Hollywood Unlocked under the handle #HollywoodUL, was later retracted and apologized to the Royal Family.
In response, Lee posted on his personal account that the statements came from a fake account and that Hollywood Unlocked has not been retracted.
