I have learned that demons are awesome, if I have learned nothing else from heavy metal, horror movies, and Dungeons and Dragons. I want to invite as many people into my life as possible to compete in fiddle contests. I've prepared a step-by-step guide to summon entities that are not normal. Since this is our first demonic summon, we're not going to start by commanding him. We will summon a generic spirit into a glass.

The do-at- home ritual was written around 1577. The book is notable for being a practical guide rather than a theoretical one, and it contains notes from Renaissance magicians who tried to follow its formulas. The original source of the magic word is in the book.

A note of caution before you begin your ritual: Many experienced magical practitioners (wizards, warlocks, necromancers, etc.) maintain that even a simple ritual requires a lifetime of dedicated spiritual practice and should not be undertaken lightly, lest great harm befall you.

They just want to hog all the demons for themselves, and since it's all make-believe, there's little danger beyond your mom yelling at you for stealing all her candles.

Let's summon something with that out of the way. The spell is handwritten but I did my best to make it clear.

Summoning a spirit into a glass

Pick out your supplies. You will need:

  • A clean towel
  • A “fayre table”
  • A glass
  • Olive oil
  • Wine
  • Holy water
  • White bread
  • A fire

Place your glass on top of the clean towel you laid on the table.

The oration needs to be recited. Stand over your glass and say the Latin words aloud. It is cooler to use a commanding, deep voice.

It goes on for a long time. The rest is in the original text. If you mispronounce any words, this might not work.

The consecration should be done step four. You know what, say the following aloud: Deus qui hoc speculum ex materia fragili. Go to the source again.

Step five is to put five drops of olive oil in a glass.

The sixth step is more latin. Check the source.

Make a cross by spreading the five drops of oil on your thumbs.

Step eight: More Latin.

The ninth step is to say "discendat in hoc speculum"

The glass should be washed with wine, holy water, and pieces of white bread.

The glass, table, towel, everything should be put in the fire. This will help the spirit in some way.

If you have done everything correctly and not mis- pronounced any of the Latin, you should see a spirit soon. You won't hear him. You must.

The 13th step is to recite more Latin.

A spirit should be visible and audible soon after you finish Latin. If you have done everything correctly, he/she/it will say something.

The aftermath of your ritual

How did your ritual go? Do you have a new friend to hang out with? It could be an issue if that is the case. I don't know how to send it back from whence it came, so you're on your own.

My ceremony didn't work out. It might be a problem with the entire concept of demonic possession.

What we talk about when we talk about summoning demons

Shintoism, Santeria, and other spiritual traditions have 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 800-313-5780 The Western idea of calling evil entities into the material plane has different meanings in different traditions. Like in horror movies.

The early history of demon summoning

Before battles in Ancient Rome, a city's deity was common, but not the same as a demon. Fast-forward to early Christianity for that.

The Testament of Solomon contains a text that was written between the end of the 1st centuryCE and the high medieval period and is said to have been written by King Solomon. An angel gives Solomon a ring. Solomon uses a magic ring to get Beelzebub and other demons to build his temple.

Solomon does not enter a pact with the demons. He is portrayed as a holy man who uses his power to slay demons. The early books of Christian practices follow this model. The Key of Solomon has spells, like How to make the holy garters, but they only work for the most righteous man.

The Hammer of Witches

Malleus Maleficarum, theHammer of Witches, was published in 1478, and is considered to be the start of the idea of demon-y demons being summoned for your own gain.

The book written by a catholic priest details the scary practices of witches, including pacts with devils, stealing babies, and all sorts of bad stuff. It shows practitioners of mystical spell-casting and demon-evokers as slaves to evil. The witches and warlocks are not powerful and are not good at it. They are weaklings who have given their will to Santa in exchange for selfish things. Witches portrayed in Hammer of Witches are not real.

A lot of people died because of Hammer of Witches. As many as 80,000 people, mostly women, were tortured and murdered during the witch trials that were influenced by the book. So if any tome is cursed?

Demon summoning after Hammer of Witches

Hammer of Witches and DePraestigiis daemonum are both related to the idea of summon demons. These volumes were written and collected in 1563 by physician Johan Weyer and offer tips on how to summon demons.

It is notable because Weyer says that anyone who thinks they have entered into a pact with an evil entity is probably suffering from a mental illness. He shows black magic practitioners how to use spells and rituals in order to get their attention. No cigar, but close.

False Monarchy of demons is full of cool demons. Amdusias, who appears to be a human with a unicorn's head, has claws instead of hands and feet, and is in charge of the cacophonous music played in Hell. There's more benign hell-spawn like Naberius, who looks like a three-headed crow and teaches the art of gracious living, like a demonic Martha Stewart.

Modern day demons

The demons that Weyer detailed helped inspire everything demonic that followed, from gothy romantic-period excesses to heavy metal, The Exorcist, and that weird kid in high. The Lesser Key of Solomon and other later grimoires are likely to be the basis for any practical guide to how to summon demons.

It isn't fake. There aren't many actual practitioners of black magic in the world, and they're really boring to talk to at parties. It keeps popping up, from the satanic panic of the 1980s and 90s to Q-Anon weirdos in 2022.

There is no reason to summon demons because hell is other people.
