Trump's Truth Social app censored an account that poked fun at the app's CEO, former congressman Devin Nunes
  • Trump's Truth Social app banned a user who tried to create an account called "@DevinNunesCow."

  • It was a nod to the joke account "@DevinCow" which is a fake account.

  • Trump Media and Technology Group has a CEO named Nunes.

Two users of Donald Trump's new social media app have reported being blocked for different reasons.

Technical issues made it difficult for some users to create accounts when Truth Social was released on Sunday. Many of the people who were able to create an account were placed on a waiting list.

Matt Ortega tried to create an account called "@DevinNunesCow", but his account was banned by Truth Social due to violating social community guidelines.

The email was confirmed by Insider.

The name of the account is a nod to a parody account called "@DevinCow", which is run by a cow owned by a former Republican congressman. The original account is not operated by Ortega.

The owner of the account was sued for defamation by Nunes. The judge dismissed the case in June 2020.

Trump Media and Technology Group is the company that developed Truth Social.

He told Insider that he was placed on a waiting list after running into server errors.

He said that he received an email notifying him of the ban. I was never able to log in, so I thought the account was banned for mocking the CEO of the media company with a meme.

It is not clear which community guideline was violated. He got in touch with the app to ask why he was banned.

Truth Social's terms of service include a ban on anything that could tarnish or harm us or the site.

When contacted by Insider outside of normal working hours, TMTG did not respond.

The purpose of the app was to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech, when Trump announced he would be developing it in October last year.

Following the storming of the Capitol, Trump was suspended from several social media platforms.
